As guest artist at the Louvre, Belgian conceptual artist Wim Delvoye (b. 1965) has created new, site-specific art for the museum. This bilingual (English and French) publication documents this and other previously unpublished works by the controversial artist. Demonstrating a range of techniques, these works respond to the Louvre's collections with subversive and ironic reinterpretations of older styles, including Baroque crucifixes and Gothic motifs.

For his 2011 exhibition in I.M. Pei's pyramid at the Louvre, British sculptor Tony Cragg installed an immense, swirling, red sun-like structure titled Versus at the pyramid's heart. This volume presents this impressive work alongside eight new sculptures. It also includes an interview with and text by the artist, as well as critical commentary.

Tunga : laminated souls

As Tunga reveals in conversation with Beverly Adams, a performance to him is an opportunity to explore an installation piece. In 2006, he installed Laminated Souls--a hyper-symmetrical laboratory, in which systemization and metamorphosis interlock--in three rooms at the Botanical Gardens in Rio de Janeiro, and there he realized a performance with two scientists, flies, frogs and a host of performers. The artist went on to create related sculptures and exhibited the original installation at New York's P.S.1 in 2007. This volume traces the evolution of Laminated Souls in detail, and by juxtaposing research and result, it gets under the skin of this work complex.
