Every year over 160 agricultural shows are held in Australia, over 1100 in the United States and over 850 in Britain. More people attend agricultural shows, country and county fairs in these three countries per year than cinema and their combined social impact is greater than most amateur sporting codes. Author Roy Maloy has long been regarded as an Australian entertainment icon for his countless performances at regional Australian, New Zealand, American and English agricultural events.
