Résumé :
There is more and more interest in the “creative society” and the role of creativity in relation to social innovation and its own role in economic and social development. This chapter will start with a short introduction to creativity and innovation in relation with the arts and cultural-creative sectors. It will develop on the concept of cultural districts, and then go on to a case study that can be considered illustrative of the social innovation concept in the arts and creative-cultural sectors. The case of Tohu will illustrate the role of territory and the creative city in relation to social innovation. Tohu, in Montreal, which is an example of culture-driven urban revitalization based on a model similar to the “proactive cultural district’” (Sacco and Ferilli, 2006).
