Ninety metres above the ground, a thin metal wire stretches between tvvo tower blocks at North G/asgow's Red Road. A solitary figure steps off the top of the building and begins to move, step by step, along the wire... Drawing on filmed footage of high-wire walker Didier Pasquette, Catherine Yass's new work High Wire combines the age-old dream of walking in the air with the modernist ideal
of building streets into the sky. An extended sequence of stills of Pasquette's
attempted walk in Glasgow is accompanied by essays by Steven Connor and Francis McKee which discuss High Wire within the history of tight-rope and high-wire walking and within the context of the post-war redevelopment of Glasgow. [editor summary]
