Depuis le milieu des années 1990, Denis Darzacq développe un travail personnel.
De la photographie de presse qui fut, comme pour d’autres photographes français de sa génération, le berceau de sa pratique artistique, il conserve avant tout un regard aiguisé sur la société contemporaine et une méthode. Denis Darzacq a acquis la conviction qu’une image construite pouvait servir son analyse de la société avec plus d’efficacité. Depuis 2003, il a recours à des mises en scène qui reposent toutes sur le principe de la « disruption » (méthodologie dynamique tournée vers la création). Par leur état ou leur pose, les corps mis en scène bouleversent l’ordre établi, sans jamais faire basculer l’image dans le spectaculaire.
L’ouvrage présente des photographies extraites de séries majeures du photographe. Notamment La chute et Hyper qui opposent deux réalités sans manipulations numériques, Act et Act II qui invitent à la réflexion autour de la complexité de l’individu, au-delà du statut assigné et réducteur de personne handicapée. Enfin, Recomposition et Contreformes font disparaître le corps au fur et à mesure des photographies pour laisser place à une réflexion de l’artiste sur l’abstraction. [résumé de l'éditeur]
